Staff warned against violation
Staff Reporter
KOLLAM: Chief Information Commissioner Palat Mohandas said here on Thursday that all Government offices should volunteer to give information to the people.
Talking to journalists, he said strict action would be taken against officers found violating the provisions of the Right to Information Act.
Mr. Mohandas said the prevailing bureaucratic approach of viewing the Act as a “nuisance” should change. The Commission intervenes only when the Act is violated. After the Commission began taking action against employees found violating the Act, many have started responding to its provisions.
As part of the penal action, the Commission had collected a fine of more than Rs. 4 lakh.
