LUCKNOW: An inquiry has been ordered into a complaint against the former Uttar Pradesh Minister, Anuradha Chaudhary, by her former private secretary, Pravendra Arya. Ms. Chaudhary is the Rashtriya Lok Dal Member of Parliament from Kairana in Muzaffarnagar district. The complainant alleged that he was tortured and issued death threats by persons close to her. Home Secretary Javeed Ahmed told newspersons that the inquiry would be conducted by Muzaffarnagar Superintendent of Police (City) Vinod Kumar. Mr. Arya said he was sacked by Ms. Chaudhary after he served as her private secretary from 2002 to 2007. The Home Secretary said that in a complaint filed at the local police station on August 4, Mr. Arya alleged that Ms. Chaudhary’s gunman Yogesh Malik, Ravindra Chaudhary and others beat him up on July 17 last and threatened to eliminate him. In another complaint filed on August 14, Mr. Arya stated that he was accosted by some persons, who said that he was summoned by Ms. Chaudhary to her residence. There he was thrashed and deprived of his money and other belongings by some persons at the behest of the MP. Taking cognisance of the complaint, an inquiry was ordered by the State Government. Mr. Ahmed said a case had not been registered so far. The National Human Rights Commission is reported to have sent notice to the Uttar Pradesh Government on the killing of one Pintoo Mishra in Allahabad on September 18, 2006, allegedly in a fake encounter.
