Nikhilesh nets Meridian’s winner

HYDERABAD: Meridian School scored a solitary goal win over Abhyasa School to enter the semifinals of the Sachdev Sports inter-school football tournament, organised by Shastri Soccer Club, at Trimulgherry Grounds here on Thursday.

The match-winner came through Nikhilesh who latched on to a neat cross from Anuj in the 30th minute of the second session.

In another match, Army School (Bolarum) defeated Government School (Trimulgherry) 6-5 via sudden-death after the teams were locked goalless at the end of regulation time and tied five-all at the end of tie-breaker.

Bhavana wins title

V. Bhavana won the seniors girls’ title in the K. Yan Independence Cup inter-schools chess tournament here by virtue of better progressive score.

Gowtam School triumphs

Gowtam Model School recorded a 41-run win over St. Patrick’s High School in the 10th Independence Cup inter-schools cricket tournament here.

The scores: Gowtam Model School 166 in 40 overs (Srikar 39) bt St. Patrick’s HS 125 (Rohan Yadav four for 22). Easy for Mamata HS
Mamata High School scored a convincing, 13-1 win over Jalak Sharia School in the boys’ U-12 category of the inaugural Azamuddin Farooqui memorial handball tournament here.

Osmania posts win

Osmania University defeated MCH Chintalbasthi 4-1 in the B-Division super-league hockey championship at Gymkhana Grounds here. For the winner, Kushwanth Singh, Sai Kiran, Ghouse Khan and Sai scored one each while Rahul Raj reduced the margin.

In another match, Young Hyderabad outplayed BHEL Ramachandrapuram 7-0 with Musharaf (4), Moshin (2) and Afsar being the scorers.
Tennis tournament
