NEW DELHI: The fourth-seeded Rohan Bopanna and Aisam-Ul-Haq Qureshi of Pakistan reached the semifinals of the $50,000 Challenger tennis tournament at Bronx, New York, with a 6-2, 7-6(1) victory over David Guez and Nicolas Tourte of France. In the semifinals, the Indo-Pak combination, that has won its last 14 matches on the trot, will be challenged by Steve Darcis of Belgium and Jim Thomas of the U.S. who ousted the top-seeded Ashley Fisher of Australia and Chris Haggard of South Africa in straight sets. In the $35,000 Challenger at Bukhara, Uzbekistan, Mustafa Ghouse and Dawid Olejniczak of Poland made the doubles semifinals with a 6-3, 6-2 triumph over wild cards Arsen Asanov and Sarvar Ikramov of Uzbekistan. The Indo-Polish pair will meet Danila Arsenov of Russia and Vaja Uzakov of Uzbekistan in the next round.
