Thiruvananthapuram: The police on Thursday said that Ayesha Begum, the 70-year-old woman who was found bludgeoned to death in her house near Vanchiyoor on August 13, was murdered for gain. The police said the woman’s son had reported the theft of Rs.35,000 and gold ornaments weighing more than 12 sovereigns from her house the same day. Circle Inspector Mahesh Kumar said the police have a definite lead in the murder case. A senior official said that the investigators had prepared a sketch of the suspect, a youth, on the basis of the description given by the neighbours.
