One killed as Minister’s escort vehicle rams tanker

GULBARGA: Agriculture Minister Bandeppa Kashampur had a narrow escape when his escort vehicle, just a few metres away from his car, met with an accident in which one constable was killed and two were injured on Thursday.

The police said that the Agriculture Minister was returning to Bidar from Gulbarga when the accident occurred on Gulbarga-Bidar national highway near Margutti Cross on the outskirts of the city.

Tyre burst

According to reports received here, the escort vehicle collided with a petrol tanker after one of its rear tyres burst.

District Armed Reserve constable Sharanappa was killed on the spot.

One of the injured police constables was identified as Sajjan.

They were admitted to hospital.

The driver of the Minister’s car stopped his vehicle immediately after the escort vehicle collided with the petrol tanker.
