Madurai Bench pulls up TNEB
Staff Reporter
MADURAI: The Madurai Bench of the Madras High Court has come down on the Tamil Nadu Electricity Board for not providing an agricultural service connection to a farmer, under an amended self-finance scheme, because the farmer had filed a case against the Board for rejecting his application under the old scheme.
Allowing a writ petition filed by A. Paulraj of Madurai, Justice P.D. Dinakaran said it was “arbitrary and unreasonable” on the part of the Board to pass the impugned order.
Mr. Dinakaran also imposed a cost of Rs.1,000 on the Board and directed it to provide the connection after receiving the balance from the petitioner.
