Budhia’s coach Biranchi Das gets bail

BHUBANESWAR: A local court on Thursday granted bail to Biranchi Das, child marathon runner Budhia Singh’s coach. He was arrested on charges of torturing the boy. The bail plea came up for hearing in the court of Sub-Divisional Judicial Magistrate Khurda Arun Kumar Sahu. The bail was granted on Mr. Das furnishing a personal bond of Rs. 5,000 and a surety for the same amount. The coach, however, was not released because another case against him is to be heard on Friday.

Police arrested Mr. Das on Monday after Budhia’s mother complained that her son was hung upside down and hot water poured on him.
