Coimbatore: BSNL (Kerala), with useful contributions from Ullas Jose (23) and Bobit Mathew (20), scored an 84-70 win over Kerala State Electricity Board (Thiruvananthapuram) in the all-India basketball tournament for the PSG Trophy at the PSG College of Technology here on Thursday. BSNL, which went down to Western Railway (Mumbai) on Wednesday, played cautiously in the initial stages. However, midway through, it stepped up its efforts through Ullas and Bobit to post its first league win. In another high-scoring contest, Indian Navy held its nerves in the dying minutes of the game to register a 98-92 win over ICF (Chennai). The results (league): BSNL (Kerala) 84 (Ullas Jose 23, Bobit Mathew 20) bt KSEB (Thiruvananthapuram) 70 (Eudrick Pereira 20). On Wednesday: Indian Navy 98 (Soji 22, R. Malik 19, A.A. Mashi 19) bt ICF (Chennai) 92 (N. Srinivasan 24, Sikkander 19); Western Railway (Mumbai) 67 (Yadwindher Singh 27) bt BSNL (Kerala) 52 (Bobit Mathew 12); KSEB (Thiruvananthapuram) 65 (R. Manoj 24) bt Indian Army 61 (Jairam Jat 24).
