Tejas holds Jobava

NEW DELHI: Grandmaster Tejas Bakre made his presence felt by holding second seeded Georgian Baadur Jobava in the fourth round of the Abu Dhabi Masters chess tournament in Abu Dhabi on Wednesday.

It turned out to be a good day for the Indians with Surya Shekhar Ganguly and G. N. Gopal emerging victorious and sharing the second spot with 15 others at three points. Egypt’s Bassem Amin leads with four points.

The results (fourth round, involving Indians):

Tejas Bakre (2.5) drew with Baadur Jobava (Geo, 2.5); Surya Shekhar Ganguly (3) bt Sami Khader (Jor, 2); Mikhail Ivanov (Rus, 2.5) drew with K. Humpy (2.5); S. Kidambi (2) lost to Alojzije Jankovic (Cro, 3); G.N. Gopal (3) bt Homayoon Toufi ghi (Iri, 2); Aditya Udeshi (2) lost to Morteza Mahjoob (Iri, 3); Akshat Khamparia (1.5) lost to M. R. Venkatesh (2.5); Mikheil Kekelidze (Geo, 2) bt S. P. Sethuraman (1.5); B. Adhiban (1) lost to Saleh Jasim (UAE, 2); Swati Ghate (2) bt Shadi Paridar (Iri, 1).
