Rehabilitation camps for disabled persons conducted

NAMAKKAL: More than 15,000 persons have benefited from the disabled rehabilitation camps conducted in various parts through the District Disabled Rehabilitation Centre last year, Collector G. Sundaramurthi has said.

Participating at the awareness and rehabilitation camp organised for the physically and mentally challenged persons in Government Boys Higher Secondary School in Erumapatti near here on Thursday, the Collector said that the district administration selected 6,500 persons through the rehabilitation camps for providing welfare assistance last year.

Identity cards were distributed to 1,200 physically and mentally challenged people. The administration would conduct similar camp in various parts of the district this year to enable the differently-abled persons to get Government assistance. District Rural Development Agency Project Officer P. Renuga Devi and others were present.
