Farmer attempts suicide

BELLARY: Krishna, a farmer from Maruti camp in Bellary taluk, attempted to commit suicide by consuming poison in the district court premises here on Friday. He was said to have been despondent over the postponement of a case.

According to his advocate, B.D. Chidanand, Krishna, who had taken many loans, had filed a petition to declare him insolvent, which came up for hearing on August 16 and was postponed to August 21 for adjudication.

Disappointed with the delay, he attempted to consume poison.

However, the bottle was snatched away from him and he was taken to hospital by the police.

Krishna, who was treated at the Vijayanagar Institute of Medical Sciences Hospital, is said to be out of danger.
