Fresh round of pulse polio

HYDERABAD: Concerned over the detection of three wild polio virus cases in Andhra Pradesh recently, the Centre has asked the State Government to take up another round of pulse polio immunisation in 14 select districts.
Of the three cases, two were reported from East Godavari and one from Nalgonda. Incidentally, all the three cases came to light after the previous round of pulse polio in the State on June 10, Anil Punetha, Commissioner, Family Welfare, stated at a news conference here on Friday. On instructions from Centre, he said a fresh pulse polio programme would be conducted from August 19 to 22 in Srikakulam, Vizianagaram, Visakhapatnam, East and West Godavari, Krishna, Guntur, Prakasam, Mahabubnagar, Ranga Reddy, Hyderabad, Warangal, Khammam and Nalgonda districts.
