ADILABAD: Rural Development Minister G. Chinna Reddy and Labour Minister G. Vinod on Friday said that target set for land development under AP Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme (REGS) would be met within the next nine months. The target being 4.5 lakh acres of land for development under the scheme, about 3 lakh acres had already been developed, they said. They said that all hurdles being faced by the field staff while discharging duties would be removed. Postal department officials present at the meeting also promised to extend necessary support needed for the successful implementation of the REGS. Earlier, Mr. Chinna Reddy visited Kothur village in Adilabad mandal, where he interacted with tribal farmers and field staff on the implementation of the programme. He inquired with the wage-seekers about the issue of wages for their work under the REGS. Later, the Minister visited Makoda village in Jainad mandal where he undertook a field visit to horticulture farms. He also participated in a meeting with the mandal samakhyas before visiting the local municipal office. Adilabad MLA C. Ramchander Reddy, Collector Ahmad Nadeem and Project Officer of Utnoor’s Integrated Tribal Development Agency, Saurabh Gaur were also present.
