GUNTUR: At a time when Chief Minster Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy is trying to implement the Jalayagnam by completing irrigation projects in the shortest possible time, Telugu Desam Party president Nara Chandrababu Naidu was trying to stall them, said Transport Minister Kanna Lakshmi Narayana here on Friday. While the Pulichintala project was going as per schedule, Mr. Naidu was getting it slowed down with the help of `his people’ influencing the contractor to make things difficult for the Government and project, he retorted when asked as to whether all the problems concerning the contractor were sorted out. Meanwhile, the Transport Minister released a set of statistical information showing how he had promised three bridges in his constituency and got five of them sanctioned. Thirteen Lift Irrigation schemes were taken up under revival scheme at a cost of Rs.6.7 cr. and hydrological clearances were received with regard to 10 new LI schemes to be implemented in the constituency with an investment of Rs.125 crore. Several roads were taken up for repair and relaying in the constituency, he observed and said that 23.52 km of roads were laid by investing Rs.6.6 crore. Those roads were Sattenapalli-Madipadu, Reddypalem-Uppalapadu, and Sattenapalli-Bayyavaram Road.
