Land beneficiaries list demanded

Staff Reporter

SANGAREDDY: The CPI (M) floor leader Nomula Narsimaiah dared the State Government to appoint an autonomous fact-finding committee to verify the number of beneficiaries that received land from the Government. He alleged that not even 10 per cent of the targeted poor received land during the three-year tenure of Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy. He announced that during the second phase of Bhoo Poratam, the CPI (M) would hoist red flags in the lands that were distributed by the Prime Minister himself in Medak but were not handed over to the beneficiaries.

Responding to the Chief Minister’s statement in Delhi that CPI (M) continues to be a good friend, Narsimaiah demanded the constitution of land commission to implement the recommendations of Koneru Ranga Rao Committee immediately for the sake of friendship.

He pointed out that land commissions were not new to the State, as in 1952 itself an autonomous commission was formed in Telangana way back in 1952 for land distribution to tenants.

Later addressing a public meeting near Jagjivan Ram statue here under the “Anti Persecution week”, Narsimaiah warned the State Government that it would be held responsible for any untoward incident during thesecond phase of the Bhoo Poratam.
