dated August 18, 1957: Service to art and music

Mr. P. Sambanda Mudaliar, noted playwright, Dr. M. Varadarajan, Tamil scholar, and Smt. K.B. Sundarambal, well-known musician and actress, were honoured by the Madras Government on August 16 for their services in the fields of art, music and literature at a special function held in Rajaji Hall, in connection with the centenary of the freedom struggle. Mr. A.J. John, Governor, presented medals to the recipients.
