Website launched on Ambu Rao
Staff Reporter
VISAKHAPATNAM: Municipal Commissioner Mukesh Kumar Meena launched a website on noted photographer late D.S. Ambu Rao ( www.dsamburao.co.) at the inaugural of the first D.S. Ambu Rao Memorial All-India Salon of Photography – 2007 organised by the Port City Photo Art Society in association with Team 4 here on Friday. The Municipal Commissioner recalled the contribution of Ambu Rao to the city. Some of his rare pictures were kept at the Visakha Museum and they would enable posterity to visualise the various stages in the development of the city. Any person who was associated with the Ambu Rao could post their views and experiences on the website so that they could be incorporated in the book to be published later.
Mr. Meena called upon Team 4 head Jonnala Nagi Reddy to come out with publicity in material on the city. Earlier, he garlanded a portrait of Ambu Rao. He gave away mementoes to noted photographers B.K. Agarwal, S.V.S. Ravi Kumar, S. Balram and C. Kishen Chand and Dolphin Nature Club president Mantha Rama Murthy, who had judged the entries in various categories.
Society chairman G. Satyanarayana said a total of 155 entries, including 21 clubs and 1,367 prints, were received for the salon. The entries were judged in six sections. He said it was unfortunate that very few entries were received from the city.
