Kochi: The Kerala High Court on Saturday directed Director General of Police (DGP) to conduct an inquiry by a police officer not below the rank of Superintendent of Police into the allegations that the management of Dr. Somervell Memorial CSI Medical College, Karakonam, had demanded Rs.15 lakh from a student for MBBS admission. Justice Thottathil B. Radhakrishnan issued the directive when a writ petition filed by a candidate, Lovley S. Livingston of Thiruvananthapuram came up for hearing. She had alleged that the management had put pressure on her to pay Rs.5 lakh toward fees and thereafter asked her to pay a further amount of Rs.10 lakh. As per the prospectus, the fee fixed was Rs.3.60 lakh. The court directed the police to submit its report by September 5.
