Hooda to honour panchayats

For promotion of renewable energy programmes


CHANDIGARH: Haryana Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda will honour panchayats which have done excellent work for promotion of renewable energy programmes at a function to be organised in Motel Red Bishop at Panchkula near here on Rajiv Gandhi Akshay Urja Diwas this Sunday.

According to Deputy Chief Minister Chander Mohan, prizes would also be given away to students who have excelled in various competitions including debate, painting, essay writing, and run for energy. Functions would also be organised at district level on this occasion.

Mr. Chander Mohan said the Raipur Rani Gram Panchayat in Panchkula district would be awarded the first prize of Rs.3-lakh in cash for the year 2006-07. Sanghi village in district Rohtak would be awarded the second prize of Rs.2-lakh. The third prize of Rs.1-lakh will be awarded to Kungar Gram Panchayat in district Bhiwani.

Gram Panchayats which have won the first prize of Rs.50,000 each at district level include Balana Gram Panchayat in Ambala district, Mohana in Faridabad district, Dhanger in Fatehabad district, Naharpur in Gurgaon district, Mangali Jhara in Hisar district, Rajpura in Jind district, Gudha in Jhajjar district, Rindal in Karnal district, Dherru in Kaithal district, Kharindwa in Kurukshetra district, Chhpera in Mewat district, Khor in Narnaul district, Jattal in Panipat district, Bherauli in Panchkula district,Karnawas in Rewari district, Khidwali in Rohtak district, Kilohard in Sonepat district, Neja Dela Khurd in Sirsa district and Sadikpur Gram Panchayat in Yamunanagar district.

A “run for energy” will be organised for school children at Panchkula to mark the day. It will be flagged off from Town Park at 8 a.m. An exhibition on various renewable energy technologies and devices will also be organised at Red Bishop in which all major manufacturers of renewable energy devices will participate.
