UBI’s initiatives on branch’s jubilee

Kozhikode: In connection with its golden jubilee celebrations, the main branch of the Union Bank of India will conduct a series of programmes in Kozhikode district.

Addressing a news conference here on Monday, bank regional head S. Jayamohan Nayar said that a banking awareness programme would be conducted at Kuttikattoor, which was the service area village of the bank. The Kozhikode district Panchayat office-bearers and officials of the DRDA would participate.

There would be a presentation on the topics related to agriculture and allied activities by the Village Knowledge Centre (VKC) for the benefit of farmers. The VKC was a new concept of the bank to impart technical knowledge and information as well as forward and backward linkages to the farming community to improve yield and thereby raise their living standards, he said.

Programmes such as a veterinary camp, assistance for patients, involvement in social forestry and a quiz for high school students in the Corporation area had also been drawn up.

Mr. Nayar said that the new regional office of the bank would be inaugurated here on September 12.
