Seven employees of civic body sacked

CUTTACK: The Cuttack Municipal Corporation has sacked seven employees in connection with the flooding of the city earlier this month. The action came in the wake of the High Court observations on Friday after going through the enquiry report submitted to it by central revenue divisional commissioner Suresh Chandra Mohapatra.

The RDC while citing several reasons for the deluge also held CMC commissioner and two senior engineers responsible for the unprecedented deluge in the city. The HC has given seven days time to the CMC to file counters if any to the RDC report. The action against the employees has come on the basis of an enquiry conducted by the city deputy mayor Madhusudan Sahu, sources said.
