The bank’s “developmental objectives” included enhanced client coverage, improved geographical reach and growth in balance sheet size, Mr. Rameau said. Calyon Bank, which provided services to around 150 top Indian companies, also aimed at augmenting product offerings by leveraging its international network, he said. Mr. Rameau said the Chennai branch, which was located on R. K. Salai and employed six people, provided services to corporate clients in Tamil Nadu and Andhra Pradesh. Quoting data published by the Loan Pricing Corporation, he said Calyon Bank was the largest provider of external commercial borrowings in India.
