NEW DELHI: Another rogue Blueline bus claimed a life in the Capital on Saturday. The victim was a 24-year-old field executive of the power distribution company BSES. His cousin was seriously injured. It all happened near the Akshardham flyover in the Mayur Vihar area. Rizwan and Mohammad Tariq were on a motorcycle when a speeding Blueline bus plying between Anand Vihar ISBT and Ambedkar Nagar hit them from behind near a traffic signal around 8-30 in the morning. According to eyewitnesses, the bus driver did not apply the brakes after the accident, dragging the motorcycle along for nearly 30 metres. It was only after passers-by raised an alarm that the driver brought the bus to a halt. Though some passers-by chased the driver, he managed to escape. According to the police, Rizwan, who had suffered serious head injuries, was rushed to Lal Bahadur Shastri Hospital where he was declared brought dead. “A lady doctor who happened to pass that way took Tariq to a private clinic in Ghaziabad. His condition was said to be stable,” said a police officer.
