One held for passport fraud

TIRUCHI: Immigration sleuths held an air passenger, A. Selvaraj, at the Tiruchi Airport on Saturday after he attempted to fly to Singapore allegedly using a forged passport.

Airport sources here said Selvaraj, a native of Pudukottai district, obtained a passport in his original name and giving his real address in 1998. As he lost the passport, Selvaraj is said to have obtained a new passport in a fictitious name and false address through a travel agent. Sources said the crime came to light after the immigration sleuths on suspicion quizzed Selvaraj when he arrived at the airport to board a flight to Singapore. A. Selvaraj was later handed over to the Airport Police.
