Bishop flays education policy

Staff Reporter

PALAKKAD: Palakkad Bishop Jacob Manathodath has said the State Government has brought in changes in the Kerala Education Rule with a view to imposing certain outdated Marxist ideologies on the students.

Inaugurating the minority rights protection convention here on Saturday, the Bishop said the Government was trying to belittle the contributions made by Christian institutions in the State for promoting education. There were attempts to keep away the Christian educational institutions from the field of education now.

He said though the Left Democratic Front (LDF) Government talked about protecting minority rights, they had not done anything so far to help the minorities.

The Christian institutions would fight against the neglect of the Government towards the community, he said.

The convention was attended by heads of Christian institutions in Palakkad diocese, priests and Church youth organisations.
