JAC to organise ‘Chalo Secretariat’ rally on August 23 demanding scrapping of GO

HYDERABAD: Representatives of Telugu Desam Party (TDP, Communist Party of India (CPI) and Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS), on Saturday pledged their support to the agitating members of the Joint Action Committee of Panchayat Raj Engineering Department employees against G.O. 508 bifurcating the Department.

While E.Peddi Reddy (TDP), K.Ramakrishna (CPI) and T.Harish Rao (TRS) extended their parties’ support to the JAC’s ongoing agitation at an interaction meeting here, N. Tulasi Reddy (Congress) assured the agitators that he would take the issue of bifurcation to Chief Minister Y.S.Rajasekhara Reddy’s notice so that justice could be done to the employees.

Mr. Rao said a delegation of TRS would call on Dr.Reddy shortly and hold discussions for dropping the GO, according to R.Ravindra Sharma, secretary-general of the JAC.

APNGOs’ support

He said the AP Non Gazetted Officers’ Association had already pledged its support to the committee.

V. Gopal Reddy, Chairman, Joint Action Committee of Employees, Teachers and Workers, representing the Government staff, had promised to convene a meeting of the committee within two days to decide the future course of action.

Indifferent

Meanwhile, the JAC of Panchayat Raj Engineering Department on Saturday decided to organise a ‘Chalo Secretariat’ rally on August 23 to protest against the Government’s ‘indifferent’ attitude to its demand.

The agitating employees have been demanding the State Government to scrap the controversial G.O. Mr. Sharma said sarpanches, MPTCs and ZPTCs would take part in the procession.
