H. D. Deve Gowda
HASSAN: Janata Dal (S) president and former Prime Minister H.D. Deve Gowda on Sunday indicated the possibility of mid-term elections to the Assembly and asked the people to elect party candidates in all the eight Assembly constituencies in Hassan district. Speaking at a public function at Ramanathapuram in Arakalgudu taluk, Mr. Gowda, who launched development works to the tune of Rs. 30 crore in the taluk, said, “for the past 20 months I was away from State politics and was silent.” “Our Chief Minister [his son] is doing good work and concentrating on the overall development of the State. Now, I have to start a battle to save my party. The JD (S) is not a party of leaders that is controlled at one end, but is a party of workers. I will tour the entire State after 15 days. I will strengthen my party at the grassroots,” he said. Mr. Deve Gowda said Chief Minister H.D. Kumaraswamy stayed in the house of an AIDS patient during his village stay programme.
