Brahmin activists clash with police

Special Correspondent

JAIPUR: Close on the heels of the violent Gujjar agitation on the reservation issue, Brahmin activists clashed with police here on Sunday while trying to go to Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje’s residence demanding their inclusion in OBC list for reservation. Ten persons, including four policemen, were injured.

Activists of the Sarva Brahmin Mahasabha defied prohibitory orders in the Civil Lines area and tried to proceed to Ms. Raje’s residence to submit a memorandum. She was away in New Delhi.

The Mahasabha was given permission to hold a rally between the Collectorate and Ajmeri Gate. Police lathicharged participants in the rally, provoking retaliation.
