Two jail inmates escape

Chitradurga: Two inmates of the district jail are reported to have escaped on Sunday.

Jail sources gave their names as Srinivas (30) and Siddappa (32) of Challakere taluk.

They said Srinivas had been sentenced in connection with a theft case, while Siddappa was an undertrial. Both had been brought here one month ago. They are said to be close relatives.

The sources said they escaped from the bathroom window.

A manhunt has been launched to nab the culprits. — Staff Correspondent
