Fresh violence in Singur

Special Correspondent

Kolkata: There was fresh violence on Sunday in the Singur area of West Bengal’s Hooghly district — the site of the upcoming Tata Motors automobile manufacturing project — when supporters of the Trinamool Congress-led Krishi Jami, Jiban and Jibika Raksha Committee (Save Farmland, Lives and Livelihood) clashed with the police while being prevented from storming the site.

The police were attacked with stones. They burst teargas shells in the Bajemelia area of Singur after a baton-charge failed to disperse the trouble-makers.
