Kumaraswamy inaugurates a slew of development projects for Surpur taluk
GULBARGA: Chief Minister H.D. Kumaraswamy was in the election mode on Monday and his entire speech at a public meeting after inaugurating and laying foundation stone for different development programmes at Hunasagi in Surpur taluk in Gulbarga district was devoted for lashing out at his political adversaries and appealing to people to re-elect the party MLAs from the district. Mr. Kumaraswamy attacked the former Chief Minister N. Dharam Singh and Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee president M. Mallikarjun Kharge and challenged them for a open debate on the efforts made by them in their political career for the development of Gulbarga district. The Chief Minister, who laid the foudation stone and inaugurated several development works estimated at Rs. 117 crore in Surpur taluk, said that Gulbarga district had a special place in his heart and said the district, after his home district of Hassan, always supported his father H.D. Deve Gowda and stood by him through difficult times. Mr. Kumaraswamy appealed to the people to continue their support to the Janata Dal (Secular) legislators, including Sharanabasappa Darshanapur, Vishwanath Patil Hebbal, M.Y. Patil, Veerabasanta Reddy Mudnal and Raju Gowda. He singled out Mr. Hebbal representing Chitapur for praise and said even after knowing that his constituency Chitapur would be reserved for the Scheduled Castes and he would have no opportunity to contest in the seat, Mr. Hebbal continued to plead for the development of the constituency. Transport Minister N. Cheluvarayaswamy, Labour Minister Iqbal Ansari, Agriculture Minister Bandappa Kashempur, Mr. Darshanapur and Surpur MLA Raju Gowda were present.
