CHENNAI: The Tamil Nadu Veterinary and Animal Sciences University (TANUVAS) will hold its first international workshop with Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University, Blacksburg, the U.S., under the U.S.-India Agricultural Knowledge Initiative and the Indian Council for Agricultural Research on Tuesday.
TANUVAS Vice-Chancellor N. Balaraman said the workshop would focus on two topics — avian viral diseases and the use of bio-technology for improving the quality of livestock and to train students and teachers in frontline research.
The aim of the seminar was to provide capacity-building in the areas of livestock and poultry diseases.A compact disc about the 16 years of research done by the students and research staff of the TANUVAS on avian flu would be given to the delegates. The CD is available for others at a cost of Rs. 30.
