Chennai: A. Thaslema Banu, a student of Government Girls Higher Secondary School, Ashok Nagar, has won an opportunity to go on an all-expenses-paid tour to Japan. At the ‘Talk your way to Japan’ contest for students of Corporation and government schools in the city, Thaslema Banu beat other students with her argument for a check on rapid, unsustainable development that harmed the environment. “I was hoping to visit Japan ever since my sister won the same contest and went on the trip two years ago,” she says. So is M. Mohammed Habeeb Rahman, a Standard XI student of St. Mary’s Higher Secondary School in Dindigul. He won the State-level contest for students of schools other than Corporation and government institutions. Two other prize-winners will also go on the Japan tour. J. Shruthilaya won the Japanese language contest and R. Padmapriya from SDNB Vaishnav College of Engineering bagged the first place in the contest for college students. The annual ‘Talk your way to Japan’ contest is organised by ABK-AOTS Dosokai (Tamil Nadu), with support from Hiyoshi Corporation.
