Contemporary themes

Depiction of contemporary themes was a highlight of the cultural pageant taken out on Atham day at Thripunithura, marking the arrival of Onam. HIV was the theme adopted by one of the participating teams, sponsored by Apollo Tyres. The tableau depicted Parasuraman, Mahabali and Mahatma Gandhi watching the precarious situation created by social maladies, such as drug addiction and unsafe sex that pave the way for the spread of AIDS.
