Kakinada: In order to make available the quality cement bricks for the beneficiaries of housing, 50 nirmit kendras would be set up in the district at the rate of one in each mandal, said East Godavari Collector M.Subrahmanyam. Addressing the beneficiaries of the cement brick units, officials of SC Corporation and the Bankers, he said of these, 14 nirmit kendras would be set up by the beneficiaries selected by the SC Corporation and the remaining would be organised through the DRDA. The collector said that each nirmit kendra would cost around Rs.5 lakhs of which Rs.50,000 is beneficiaries contribution, Rs.1 lakh is SC corporations margin money and the subsidy is 20 per cent for men and 25 per cent to women. The bank’s loan component, he said, was Rs.2.50 lakhs. Since there is buy-back agreement for purchasing the cement bricks through Housing Corporation, he said, there would not be any marketing problem. More over the bank’s loan repayment also would not pose any problem, as there is heavy demand for bricks in view of the large scale housing programme going on in the district. Shortage of bricks
Under the second phase of Indiramma scheme, the collector said that 1.36 lakh houses and urban housing 15,000 besides the spill over 25,000 houses put together about 1.70 lakh houses would be constructed that requires bricks supply on a large scale. The decision to start nirmit kendras in each mandal, he said, would go a long way in meeting the shortage of bricks. Andhra Bank’s lead district Manager A.Shanmukhachary said the scheme was ideal and the bankers would extend the necessary support. SC Corporation Executive Director M. Raju said that the documentation for the setting of the nirmit kendras would be completed expeditiously by single window system. DM Housing Satyanarayana, GM District Industries Centre Naik attended.
