Workshop on Siddha medicine

PUDUCHERRY: The French Institute of Pondicherry (IFP) is organising a two-day workshop on “Siddha Medicine: Historical, Social and Medical Perspective” on Thursday and Friday at Jawaharlal Nehru Conference Hall at No.11, Saint Louis Street. According to an IFP press release, the workshop will help explore the system of medicine through the eyes of social scientists and will contribute to further research. Brigitte Sebastia, a researcher at the IFP, said that the workshop aims to study historical development of the system, place of the system in a pluralistic medical landscape of the State, social dimension of the Siddha practices and its relation to Tamil identity and culture.
