MSR hits out at high command
Special Correspondent
YSR could have done more, says the veteran party leader Injustice done to Satyanarayana Rao, says PCC chief
HYDERABAD: Veteran Congress leader and former Minister M. Satyanarayan Rao has accused the party high command of neglecting the State yet again in not choosing even one leader for the Governor’s post.
Sore over the attitude of AICC leadership, he said on Tuesday that despite the fact that the State had played a crucial role in bringing the Congress back to power at the Centre, the State leadership’s plea did not find a favour with the high command.
Though he admitted that Chief Minister Y. S. Rajasekhara Reddy had “done his best” in recommending his name for the post, he told reporters that “he could have done more”.
Mr. Rao, who staked claim for the position, after resigning from the Cabinet in connection with the Karimnagar Parliament by-election felt that the Chief Minister should have applied more pressure on the high command in his favour.
He bemoaned the lack of recognition for his dedicated and long service to the party.
Andhra Pradesh Congress Committee chief K. Keshava Rao expressed the view that injustice had been done to Mr. Satyanarayana Rao in this regard.
He said he would also take up the issue with the party high command.
