Challenging task ahead

Hard Times: Farmers transporting coconuts in a countryboat in the backwaters of Alappuzha. Given the highly dispersed and scattered nature of coconut cultivation in the country, the small operational size of holdings and the small quantities available as surplus, direct marketing has always been a challenge for coconut farmers. Lack of proper system of grading of coconut and no assured source of regular supply of substantial quantities of coconut are discouraging prospective entrepreneurs.
