CHANGE OF GUARD: Chief Justice of Karnataka High Court Cyriac Joseph administering the oath to Governor Rameshwar Thakur in Bangalore on Tuesday.
Bangalore: Rameshwar Thakur was sworn in as the 15th Governor of the State at a simple function held in the Glass House of the Raj Bhavan here on Tuesday.
The 80-year-old freedom fighter, former Union Minister and Governor of Orissa was administered the oath of office by Chief Justice of the Karnataka High Court Cyriac Joseph. Outgoing Governor T.N. Chaturvedi, whose tenure ended on Tuesday, attended the ceremony.
Prof. Thakur’s wife, Narmada Thakur, his daughters Mridula Sinha and Sangita Thakur and granddaughter Madhavi Dutta and many other family members were present. at the function
Chief Minister H.D. Kumaraswamy, Deputy Chief Minister B.S. Yediyurappa, Minister for Home M.P. Prakash, Minister for Revenue Jagadish Shettar, Assembly Speaker Krishna, Council Chairman B.K. Chandrashekar, Leaders of the Opposition in the Assembly and Council N. Dharam Singh and H.K. Patil respectively and many Ministers, MLAs and MLCs were seen at the function.
