Thiruvananthapuram: Southern Railway will run special trains between Mangalore and Thiruvananthapuram from August 24 to 29 to clear the heavy rush during Onam. Reservations will start on Wednesday, a press release said. Train no. 0688 will leave Mangalore at 5.40 p.m. on August 24, 26 and 28 and reach here at 7.15 a.m. the following days. Train no. 0687 will leave here at 3.30 p.m. on August 25, 27 and 29 and arrive at Mangalore at 5.45 a.m. the following days. The trains will have one two-tier AC, one three-tier AC, eight sleeper class, three general second class and two luggage-cum-brake van coaches. Train no. 0648 will leave Mangalore on August 25 and the schedule is same as that of train no. 0688. Train no. 0647 will leave here on August 26, following the schedule of 0687. These two have one two-tier AC, one three-tier AC, 10 sleeper class, three general second class and two luggage-cum-brake van coaches. The trains will stop at Varkala, Kollam, Kayamkulam, Haripad, Ambalappuzha, Alappuzha, Mararikulam, Cherthala, Thuravur, Ernakulam junction, Aluva, Thrissur, Shoranur, Kuttippuram, Tirur, Kozhikode, Koyilandy, Vadakara, Mahe, Thalassery, Kannur, Payyannur, Cheruvathur, Nileshwaram, Kanhangad and Kasaragod.
