Karat: recall Ronen Sen

Special Correspondent

Prakash Karat

HYDERABAD: Communist Party of India (Marxist) general secretary Prakash Karat on Tuesday demanded the immediate recall of Indian Ambassador to the United States Ronen Sen for his reported comments that the Parliamentarians were running about like “headless chickens” on the India-U.S. nuclear deal.

“The Centre should recall the Ambassador if it has any sense of self-respect,” Mr. Karat said during a brief stopover here on his way from New Delhi to Mudigonda in Khammam district where he inaugurated a memorial built for the seven persons who died in police firing on Left parties’ workers last month.

The CPI (M) leader said Mr. Sen was working like an envoy of U.S. President George Bush rather than discharging the duties assigned to him.

To a question, he said the Left parties had not yet discussed the issue of mid-term elections.
