Court dismisses petition by Solanki
Staff Reporter
NEW DELHI: The Delhi High Court on Monday dismissed a petition by former Union Minister for External Affairs Madhavsinh Solanki challenging issuance of a notice to him by a Special Court for CBI cases here on an application filed by the investigating agency in 2003 seeking his prosecution for his alleged attempt to influence investigation into the Rs. 64-crore Bofors gun deal in 1992.
Justice A.K. Sikri of the Court also dismissed Mr. Solanki’s plea for quashing of the CBI’s application seeking permission of the Special Court for his prosecution under Section 193 of the Indian Penal Code.
The CBI’s allegations against Mr. Solanki are that he had handed over a fabricated document to the then Swiss Foreign Minister, Rene Felber, for his alleged attempt to influence investigation into the gun deal.
