Court comes to the rescue of old woman
Staff Reporter
NEW DELHI: The Delhi High Court has cancelled the gift deed of a property in Green Park here belonging to a 90-year-old woman doctor after she informed it that her non-resident Indian grandson had fraudulently executed the deed in his favour as well as withdrawn Rs. 4.5 lakh from her bank account.
Comparing the behaviour of her family members with the elderly woman, Prem D. Lall, with sharks and vultures, a Division Bench of the Court comprising Justice M. K. Sharma and Justice Sanjiv Khanna directed the aggrieved woman’s grandson, Chinmay Arora, to return the money to her by August 30.
The woman had appeared before the Court in a wheel-chair on Monday and apprised it of the manner in which she was cheated by her Singapore-based grandson.
Court directive to police
The Bench also directed the local police to deploy two maidservants at the woman’s residence to look after her as she stays alone.
Her grandson had cheated her by taking her thumb impression on blank papers without telling her about its purpose, Ms. Lall submitted in the Court.
