BHOPAL: Ten districts of Madhya Pradesh have received above normal rainfall so far since the onset of the monsoon and 96.30 per cent of the State’s kharif sowing target has been met. According to projections at an official meeting chaired by Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chauhan here, rainfall has been normal in 15 districts and below normal in the remaining 23. Addressing officials, the Chief Minister directed that the canal system be used to the optimum level to irrigate fields in areas with deficient rainfall. He said the farmers should also be given timely guidance to opt for alternative crops where there is shortage of water.
