JAIPUR: Jaipur Vidyut Vitaran Nigam plans to strengthen the power infrastructure and reduce transmission and distribution losses in the Capital city by spending Rs.140 crore during the next six months. The public sector power supply company has set the target of reducing T&D losses from the present 14.75 per cent to 9 per cent. Nigam’s Chairman and Managing Director R.G. Gupta said here on Tuesday that the proposed loss reduction programme would help save Rs.5 crore worth of electricity every month. Besides, the Nigam will install 2,350 new transformers at a cost of Rs.16 crore and change old transmission lines for the system’s improvement at a cost of Rs.41 crore. Mr. Gupta said four grid sub-stations of 33 KV each had already been constructed at ESI Hospital at Sodala, Rambagh, Old Assembly and Luniawas village at a cost of Rs.4.15 crore, while nine more would be installed at other locations shortly. The Nigam has also set a target of replacing service lines and electricity meters of one lakh consumers with the new ones at an expenditure of Rs.41 crore. Mr. Gupta said the Nigam would try to bring down the number of complaints to only one per 100 consumers every year.
