RLD’s qualified support to Indo-US nuclear deal

Lucknow: Rashtriya Lok Dal led by former Union Minister Ajit Singh on Tuesday extended qualified support to the Indo-US nuclear agreement saying Left parties’ concerns over the pact must be addressed before making it operational.

The country requires energy and the agreement holds the promise in that direction but there must be a full-fledged debate on it in Parliament and the concerns of Left parties must also be addressed, RLD national youth wing president Jayant Chaudhary told reporters here.

Mr. Chaudhary, son of Ajit Singh, expressed serious reservations over Mayawati government’s decision to introduce contract farming in the State and said his party would launch a State-wide agitation to register protest against it.

The youth leader was here to meet party workers and discuss strategy to strengthen the party organisation.
