CEE carries out trial allotment

Electronics and Communications favourite choice of aspirants

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The Electronics and Communications (EC) course emerged as the favourite choice of engineering aspirants and the College of Engineering, Thiruvananthapuram, the most sought-after Government college during the first trial allotment for engineering / medical courses carried out by the Commissioner for Entrance Examinations on Tuesday evening.

The allotment - published at 6.45 p.m. - can be accessed at the web site cee.kerala.gov.in/captrial. This allotment was done based on the course-college options submitted by candidates till 10 a.m. on August 20.

In this trial allotment - which is only roughly indicative of the final allotment positions - the last rank allotted in the State Merit (SM) category for the EC branch was 215. For Computer Science, the last rank allotted was 419 while for Applied Electronics the last rank allotted in SM was 577. A candidate with as low a rank as 26,000 received allotment in the SM category to a Government seat.

The second most preferred Government college was Government Engineering College, Thrissur. Among the core engineering subjects - Electrical, Mechanical and Civil engineering - the most preferred course in Government engineering colleges was Electrical and Electronics Engineering (EEE) while Civil Engineering was the least preferred branch.

Among self-financing colleges under the Government, Sree Chithira Thirunal College, Pappanamcode, and the Model Engineering College, Thripunithura, were among the most preferred colleges. Among private self-financing colleges SCMS, Kottayam, and MES College, Kuttippuram, were among the most preferred choice of engineering aspirants.

MBBS course

For the MBBS programme, Medical College Thiruvananthapuram was the top choice. The last rank allotted here for the MBBS course was 351. At Medical College Alappuzha, which, according to Government sources, was the least preferred among government colleges - the last rank allotted was 531. Candidates with ranks past 850 have received allotment for MBBS.

For the BDS course, Dental College Thiruvananthapuram was the top choice among students; the last rank allotted here was 995.
