Kisan Sabha seeks pension scheme for farmers
Special Correspondent
HYDERABAD: The All India Kisan Sabha has demanded that Chief Minister Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy introduce a bill to provide pension to aged farmers if he is ‘really committed’ to the farmers’ cause.
The Kisan Sabha wanted the Government to put in place a Debt Relief Commission to waive the loans of farmers for mitigating their plight whenever the agriculture sector plunges into crisis. On the lines of the Commission in Kerala, the panel should be headed by a retired judge and should consist, representatives of farmers as its members, AIKS general secretary Atul Kumar Anjan said.
Addressing a meeting of the AP Ryotu Sangham here on Tuesday, Mr. Anjan said the AIKS would not give any credit to the works like construction of irrigation projects as “it was doing its bit to minimise the crime committed earlier,” he said.
