HC admits writ challenging GO 610
Legal Correspondent
Hyderabad: A Division Bench of the High Court on Tuesday admitted a writ petition filed challenging the constitutional validity of GO 610 aimed at ensuring that only locals hold the Government posts earmarked for them.
An implead petition filed by a Telangana leader Pashyam Yadagiri was ordered by the bench.
The writ petition was filed by Congress MPs from coastal Andhra, Ch. Hariramam Jogiah (Narsapur) and G. V. Harsha Kumar (Amalapuram). Mr. Jogaiah has been openly critical of the repatriation of Government employees under GO 610 instead of retaining them by creating supernumerary posts. He has also been advocating parting of ways between Andhra and Telangana regions in a cordial manner.
Petition
The two Congress leaders contended in their petition that GO 610, which was issued in December 1985, was violative of the Special Article 371-D of the Constitution of India. They further said that the GO was arbitrary and also violative of Article14 of the Constitution.
